Over the past few years, I planned to go off the grid and put solar panels on my roof, which would also act as backup power during a large-scale infrastructure failure, such as one that a major hurricane would cause. But the rising costs of a residential solar buildout due to supply chain issues during the pandemic and the uncertain future of Florida’s net metering situation (which was only recently resolved), plus the need for a total roof replacement caused me to cancel my plans to spend over $100,000 on a new solar roof, batteries, and electrical upgrades....

Every month, Google updates the distribution numbers for its Android platform, showcasing the state of the operating system across its varying versions. In May, Android 5.0 and 5.1, the Lollipop release, showed a total percentage of the Android market of 9.7%. That number grew this month, though, with Android 5.0 coming in at 11.6% on its own, with Android 5.1 commanding 0.8% of the pie chart. Lenovo today launched the Vibe K5 in India. The latest offering from the company packs in a 5-inch 720p HD display that is powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 415 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz. The budget handset packs in 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded via a microSD card slot. The 8.2mm thick handset features a removable 2750mAh battery. Other specs of the Lenovo Vibe K5 include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, dual-SIM connectivity, 4G LTE support, GPS, and a microUSB port....

On the storage front, the Vibe S1 offers 32GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot. The Vibe S1 comes with a dual front camera setup, made up of a 8-Megapixel sensor and a 2-Megapixel senor which will work in tandem just like the dual camera setup found on the likes of HTC One M8. As expected, the 2-Megapixel sensor will be used to add the depth to the photographs while the 8-Megapixel sensor will still perform the primary task of capturing photos....

When LG launched the G4 in the United States, it was offering a free 128GB microSD card with the handset under T-Mobile, or a 32GB microSD card slot and an extra battery with a charging cradle with other carriers. That promotion only lasted through June, and for July, the company has another new promotion where it will be giving consumers who purchase the G4 throughout July a free leather back, a spare battery and a charging cradle....

But what I realized after my first hour with the device is that Oneus’s second stab at a smartphone may actually have a chance at being the “flagship killer” it’s being advertised as. It’s powerful, it runs a near-perfect version of Android, it offers some extraordinary features you’d have to pay extra for with other flagship devices, like 64GB of storage right out of the box. Of course, whether Oneus is successful will depend entirely on how much better it is at marketing this time around, but at least they’ve got a product worth the fanfare....

On Wednesday, September 24, HTC officially started their teasing campaign for an event they are holding on October 8, 2014. Teasing with a one-liner for the memory books, “Something remarkable is coming” offers just enough to get the interest piqued, and yet not nearly enough to ruin the surprise. While the invite for HTC’s “Double Exposure” event included a pair of women taking a selfie with an HTC One (M8), it’s been rumored and teased ever since that the event will actually focus on something a bit more camera-focused, and not so much a new smartphone with a nice camera....

Alongside the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus, Huawei will also be unveiling the Huawei Watch 2 at MWC later this month. The news was confirmed by Huawei’s CEO Richard Yu. Huawei is going to announce new phones on March 27, and one of them is probably going to boast a trio of cameras on the back. As such, Android Authority managed to get their hands on what they are calling a prototype for the Huawei P20.
